Sunday 22nd Jan
After two very poor rounds on the Lark and Cam, Saffron Walden returned to the Club's Bordeaux pit. Although is didn't produce as well as previous week at least everyone caught unlike the previous two rounds.
Jason Hunt on peg 36 landed thee Carp on the pole with maggot for an estimated 53lb with the best just over twenty pounds, however with Carp counting just two pounds in matches so with two small Roach he weighed 6-3 for third. Winner on the day was Grahan Carter on fancied peg 40, Three F1's and small fish totaling 7-0. Clive Bradford secured second with all small fish for 6-4.
At the halfway stage Brian Mizon leads with 13 points ahead of Badford on 18 with Nigel Robets and Andy Crawte on 20. With two results to drop at the end of the league everything could change in the last four rounds.
Next Round 12 Feb Bordeaux 8:30.
Sunday 4th Dec
The club moved their Presidents Cup match on Sunday from a very poor performing Ouse to Bordeaux pit. Although the fishing was hard it was much the better bet although it was a match of two halves with the second bay producing very few bites for those pegged in that area.
Nigel Roberts on peg 10 appeared to be heading for a blank with 2/3 of the match gone. But a change of tactics by going down a hook size to a 22 and a 1lb hooklength and fishing squatt close to some cover saw him take 6 F1's in fairly short time to run out winner with 7-8. Second placed Any Crawte stuck with 4mm pellet in the fallen tree swim to find F1's a decent skimmer and some bits to finish with 6-8.
Clive Bradford on peg 4 caught bits on and off from the start and had 5-6 to finish third.
Sun 30th Oct Winter League round 1 Bordeaux
On an unseasonally warm day and after a windy night the competitors arrived to find around 75% of the pit with a heavy covering of fallen leaves which hampered many. Only three or four started off with clear swims.
In a rare occurance the same peg (10) produced the winner for consecutive matches, and also a succesive win for Clive Bradford.
Cilve fished pellet close to the corner bushes to take F1's and a couple of skimmers to record a clear win with 13-13.
On peg 35 Chris Hunt adopted a worm and caster approach a Bream around three pounds a couple of reasonable Ide and a few bits for 6-7 but added a bonus 4lb after managing to land two large carp of around 15 and 18lb giving him second with 10-7. Andy Crawte on 28 had four skimmers and an F1 to take third with 9-7 again all on pellet.
Sunday 23 Oct L.C.Collins Trophy - Old West
With a static, crystal clear water and a gale blowing in our face it was never going to be easy and so it proved!!
Clive Bradford drew peg 1, the upstream end. He fished punch and pinkie to take the day with 3-14, Fred hart sat on peg 7 in the middle of a reed bad and secured second with 2-14 fishing close in on pinkie. Chis Hunt finishing third with 1-10. Interestingly all three were adjacent to reed beds areas which clearly held fish whilst those away from the reeds struggled fao any bites.
Sunday 2 Oct Bordeaux.
Having moved the interclub match with Wymonham from a static and crystal Ouse our opponents then decided not to travel, so we went ahead with a sweepstake match. The day was HOT and very bright and this weather certainly didn't help the weights.
Alan Reeve drew peg 10 and fished against the marginal cover by the overhanging bush. Despite being mugged by large Carp several times he managed to land a couple of F1's and a couple of small Bream for 6-12 after landing a carp around 15lb+ he got a two pound bonus under club match rules that simply count these at that weight he ran out winner with 8-12.
Nigel Roberts drawn on 30 had one small Crucian and added small skimmers and Roach to finish second with 7-4. Dave King and Brian Mizon tied third with 5-11.
